Il Giardino sul Lago

Everything was really great, the room, the view and breakfast by the lake shore. It was just unfortunate that the direct lake access from the property (which we had expected) was not operational. It was the main reason for booking the property. Otherwise, a great place to stay with a very helpful and friendly host. Location just a few steps from the main square. Space in parking garage free of charge. About 11 minutes walk from property.

We are very grateful to have met Antonella and to have been able to stay at her home. It is beautiful and she is an amazing host. Thank you for everything!

This is a wonderful accommodation: a beautiful and large room overlooking the lake with a balcony, filled with good books, breakfast in the charming garden, and the hosts, Antonella and Cesare, are people one would like to be friends with. Antonella has excellent advice about where to go, what to do, and where to eat.

Thank you for the most wonderful stay Antonella! You made us feel so welcome and at home for our entire stay, we already miss breakfast on the balcony overlooking the lake every morning. Thank you for being so accommodating of our wedding plans and for making our wedding day that much more special. We had the perfect week and staying with you was a large part of that. We can’t wait to return for special anniversary trips x.

We have enjoyed three days in the accommodation very much. The location of the apartment is very quiet, close to the village and has a magnificent view of the lake. Who likes unconventional accommodation with private charm, this is the right place. The sympathetic lady Antonella always served us a wonderful breakfast on the balcony. I think we will come again.

My family and I spent the night at this beautiful B&B. The host placed us on the top floor with a breathtaking view of the lake. She helped us find the parking lot and as we walked back, she was kind enough to show us around and share information on the town. The following day, the host provided the simplest yet most delicious breakfast I have ever had. Although we lacked internet access, or if there was, I forgot to ask, but our room had bookcases filled with plenty of books to entertain you as you sit on the balcony with that spectacular landscape. We definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for some peace and quiet.

We had a very special stay at Orta San Giulio and loved every minute of it! Antonella was the perfect host - always around when we needed something, delicious breakfast in the garden every morning, and even local recommendations. The B&B itself was clean, cosy, and peaceful, with incredible views over the lake and minutes walk from Piazza Motta with restaurants and bars. We fell in love with the charm of this place and will definitely be coming back.

Beautiful view of the lake and the island from the balcony. Very comfortable room in a great location. The host was so kind and she made us a lovely breakfast with fresh croissants and juice. The town of San Guilio is so charming. We had an amazing time and the stay made it all the better.

Il Giardino sul Lago is a magical little gem, right on Lake Orta. The room, in reality, is an entire apartment (minus a kitchen). It is beautifully appointed, with a grapevine-covered wrap-around terrace on two sides and a wonderful library. Between these and Antonella's warm hospitality, the overall experience feels more like staying at a friend's house than in a hotel. What more could one ask for?

Antonella was a wonderful host! We really enjoyed our trip to this beautiful house and city. The B&B is located directly in the city centre but still very calm and private. The breakfast with its homemade jam, croissants and fruit salad was delicious and the view was amazing. Thank you for this wonderful vacation!

The perfect place in Orta for me.

Great place! Not so good for old people with difficulties walking as lots of stairs. However I am 64 and had no issues. Just pack what you need and leave heavy suitcases in car. Largo d’Orta Is heaven on earth and I will return. This is a great place to stay and I give it ten out of ten !

The room could not have a more beautiful outlook. It is in a very convenient location to restaurants but is very quiet. The owners are very generous, helpful and interesting. The breakfast is excellent.

Il Giardino sul Lago was our favorite of several B&Bs on a recent trip to the Italian lakes: incredibly lovely, beautiful, quiet, and relaxing, perfect for a romantic stay in the small and uncrowded Orta San Giulio. We can't wait to go back. The room is large and lit exceedingly well by two large French doors that face the lake; outside, a large balcony gives you spectacular views of Isola San Giorgio and the sunset. B&B owner Antonella was extremely friendly and accommodating, and speaks excellent English; she took us on a small tour of the building itself, which is large and charming and filled with books. The building is perfectly located just within Orta San Giulio for easy walks to Sacra Monte or the ferry to Isola San Giorgio, as well as into town for dinner; it's also very close to Stresa for a day trip to the Borromean Islands.

For those of you reading this and are unfamiliar with Orta, the town and lake have been one of our very favorite places in Northern Italy. This was our 4th visit to Orta in 35 years of travels to Europe and it did not disappoint. The lake is the smallest and least touristed of the major lakes. The town remains very small, charming, historic and without chain-store commercialism. The harbor setting is reminiscent of Portofino (without the big boats of course) while the Sacro Monte above the town is not to be missed. Our week at Il Giardino was so relaxing that leaving was extremely difficult. The location and the very spacious, scenic and airy room with 2 sets of French doors opening to the balcony and lake, on the 2nd floor, has got to be the best in Orta. While the website photos are excellent and were probably the main reason we booked at Il Giardino, they just don't do justice to being there. So many of the other hotels and B&Bs in Orta seemed very minimalist and contemporary in furnishings as opposed to more traditional furnishings in Il Giardino which for this "mature couple" was a big plus. After more than a month we are still talking about our new friend, Antonella, and her warm and relaxing hospitality, not to mention her excellent English for those of us who wish we could speak Italian but don't. We look forward to a return trip to see her and to once again relax at Il Giardino and Orta S'Guilio. Grazie Mille, Antonella!

We had a very pleasant stay. Our hostess was discreet and charming. The house is a haven of peace with an irresistible charm. The proximity to the lake, the garden, and the view from the room are the highlights of this bed and breakfast that we highly recommend! \nThank you for everything!

Great room with an incredible view of the lake, just 2 steps from the center of Orta. Good breakfast served in the garden, by the lake. Antonella is lovely. She provides a map for free parking in the underground parking. We had a great stay by Lake Orta.

Our stay at Il Giardino sul Lago was wonderful, just too short. Antonella is a discreet, helpful host and very knowledgeable. The room is very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast facing the lake is a delight. What else to say but that we will be back!

B&B très calme avec vue directe sur le lac, petit déjeuner extra dans le jardin au bord de l’eau, grande chambre avec petit salon et grande bibliothèque, avec de nombreuses gravures anciennes, beaucoup de charme et très bon accueil!

Séjour parfait. Propriétaires discrets, très à l écoute. Emplacement exceptionnel. Vue magnifique. Possibilité de parking très appréciable (5 euros/jour).

Un petit paradis, à deux minute à pied du magnifique centre historique d'Orta! Propriétaires charmants et au petit soin, place de parking fermée sous le porche de la maison, demeure splendide avec des vignes grimpantes partout, petit-déjeuner excellent avec des produits frais et maison, une chambre spacieuse au lit très confortable et la plus belle vue sur lac de notre voyage en Lombardie depuis une chambre. J'en garderai un merveilleux souvenirs d'Automne.

Séjour parfait. L'emplacement est idéal, au bord du lac et proche de la place centrale (bars, cafés, restaurants, magasins), la vue est magnifique, la chambre est tout confort, très grande et au calme. De nombreux guides et brochures touristiques sont disponibles dans la chambre, ce qui est très appréciable. Nous avons passé un moment magique et espérons vite y retourner. Antonella est discrète et très délicate, l'accueil a été parfait.

Belle chambre, bien agencée avec goût, grande bibliothèque à disposition. Belle vue sur le lac et l'île San Giulio. Très proche du centre historique à pied juste une petite suggestion, élaguer un peu le grand arbre du jardin, ce qui aérerait un peu le jardin ?.

Magnifique chambre spacieuse avec vue sur le lac d'Orta, petite terrasse agréable, hôtes sympathiques, délicieux petits déjeuners au jardin. Un séjour de rêve.

Quant nous retournerons à Orta San Giulio, ça sera là. Il règne dans cette demeure une atmosphère particulière, la chambre offre une très belle vue sur le lac et sur l'île San Giulio. Un paysage à part. A deux pas de la place du village, la chambre est très agréable, on pourrait même se contenter d'y rester pour profiter du calme et du jardin. De plus, Antonella et Cesare, furent pour nous une belle rencontre.. Pace e salute!

A heartfelt thank you to Antonella for the warm welcome and lovely breakfast in the garden! The room offered plenty of space and a lot of atmosphere, we felt at home. It is accessible through a vine-covered walkway where in the evenings you could sit in a wonderful private spot overlooking the lake. We gladly recommend the accommodation!

Wir waren bereits das vierte Mal am Giardino sul Lago (mit Kindern!), und damit ist wohl alles gesagt: Ein sehr schöner Ort, direkt am See mit wunderschöner Aussicht, wunderbare Gastgeber, sehr einzigartiger und origineller Ort (Haus, Garten, See, Antonella & Cesare...). Wir hoffen, dass wir bald wieder hin können!

Superpension. Tolle Lage, das Zimmer mit See und Bergaussicht, das Haus ein Kleinod, vor allem für Leute die Bücher lieben. Die Betreiber sehr liebe Leute. Hätte nichts Besseres finden können.

Wir haben wunderschöne, erholsame Tage bei Antonella und Cesare verbracht. Die schöne, alte Villa in einem verwunschenen Garten hat einen ganz besonderen Charme. Die Lage ist großartig: Sehr ruhig, direkt am Seeufer, nur wenige Schritte zur Piazza von Orta. Vom Balkon unseres sehr großen Zimmers hatten wir einen traumhaften Panoramablick. Abends haben wir es sehr genossen bei einem kühlen Glas Weißwein (auch ein kleiner Kühlschrank war vorhanden) auf den See zu blicken. Antonella hat uns immer wieder mit süßen Spezialitäten zum Frühstück überrascht. Sie ist eine wirklich sehr sympathische und freundliche Vermieterin, die uns mit großer Gastfreundschaft aufgenommen hat. Wir haben uns rundum sehr wohlgefühlt und hoffen auf ein Wiedersehen. Il giardino sul lago hat den Charme einer alten Stadtvilla mit verwunschenem Gartenambiente. Die Aussicht auf den See ist unschlagbar, die Nähe zum Zentrum genial. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Antonella, die Gastgeberin, hat uns jeden Morgen mit einem sehr ausgewähltem, leckeren Frühstück überrascht. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Ein ganz ungewöhnliches Haus mit wunderbarem Ambiente, direkt am See mit einem Traumblick und nur ein paar Schritte von der kleinen Piazza von Orta San Guglio entfernt. Die Gastgeberin Antonella ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und spricht zudem hervorragendes Englisch. Kleinere Wünsche unsererseits in Bezug auf Ausstattung des Zimmers und Frühstück wurden sofort erfüllt. Gerade das Frühstück ist sehr gut und abwechslungsreich - eben nicht wie sonst in Italien. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Structure with character, relaxing and with a private view of the lake, almost out of time. Mrs. Antonella impeccable. We will definitely come back, experience absolutely to recommend.

Given that Orta is a small jewel of a lake, this bed and breakfast fits perfectly into the context for me. The location is excellent and peaceful, the accommodation is undeniably charming and with a nostalgic romanticism that echoes the surrounding landscape. The house is wonderful and lush, there is so much greenery that perhaps it should be better maintained. The view is simply sublime, so with a bit more pruning, this aspect could be further improved. Antonella is very discreet, but extremely kind.

Room with a spectacular view of the lake, enchanting and peaceful place, great for recharging and immersing oneself in nature.

Room with a breathtaking view of Lake Orta; from the balcony you can see the Island of San Giulio framed by the garden vegetation. The room is comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast is excellent with homemade jams and artisanal yogurt. The manager is very helpful and kind.

A bed and breakfast with only one really beautiful room. Extremely characteristic, without a television of which you don't feel any lack given the breathtaking view and the precious library that covers practically most of the walls. Lovely garden that allows you to have breakfast on the water and a corner balcony that brings the view inside the house. Very clean. Mrs. Antonella and her husband are helpful and really kind. Having asked for chamomile for breakfast, they brought me a small bowl with chamomile flowers and not the supermarket tea bag. A truly rare attention to detail. Experience to be repeated.

Wonderful house in a stunning location. Extremely kind and helpful owner. Highly recommended.

Splendid bed and breakfast on the shores of Lake Orta, almost in front of San Giulio Island. The only room is huge, comfortably accommodates up to four people and is truly charming. The little balcony is a marvel, being practically on the lake. Mrs. Antonella is very kind and extremely helpful. The quality/price ratio is optimal. Absolutely recommended.

Ideal place to relax, breathtaking view, the lady manager of the B&B splendid, friendly, prepared us an excellent breakfast served on the terrace by the lake. Highly recommended to escape from everyday life.

Da Favola. Da provare Assolutamente.

Abbiamo pernottato due notti in questo posto. La camera è più di una camera. È quasi un bilocale. Ha molte librerie e tre posti lettura (intendo comodi sedili e luce per ogni posto). La vista è stupenda. La colazione viene servita praticamente sul lago, il muretto separa il prato dal lago. La colazione sana e per noi abbondante. Il posto è un po' country e d'altri tempi. L'uva fragola ricopre tutta la casa e arriva su fino alla camera.

Se cercate un posto nel quale ci si possa sentire come a casa propria, andate e non ve ne pentirete. Non c'è spazio per fiocchi e merletti, ma vi accoglierà una calda casa in riva al lago, che dovete raggiungere a piedi e che vi farà vivere la città come se abitaste lì per davvero. Non ha parcheggio, ma ne vale certamente la pena. Quella colazione bordo lago e quel terrazzino, difficilmente potrò dimenticarli.

Tutto ciò per cui vale la pena vivere trova la sua culla in questo luogo. Se la bellezza salverà il mondo bisogna correre qua da Cesare ed Antonella, nella loro casa affacciata sul lago cornice perfetta di un quadro dalle molteplici sfumature dal variopinto giardino pochi passi ti portano in piazza dove l'isola di San Giulio ti sorprende e ti mozza il fiato, atmosfera d'altri tempi di sera. Noi due e la nostra piccola di 5 anni due giorni di serenità immersi in questo capolavoro di umanità e natura!

Posto romantico, ideale per passare un week-end lontano dallo stress, dai pensieri e da tutte le negatività. Semplicità di una casa vissuta. Panorama stupendo immerso nel silenzio delle acque calme del lago. Accoglienza e disponibilità super.

Il B&b è stupendo e si affaccia direttamente sul lago. La signora Antonella è molto gentile e disponibile a soddisfare le esigenze dei clienti.

Splendida collocazione, gestori simpatici e collaborativi, colazione sontuosa. E poi libri dappertutto.

Esperienza, francamente, indimenticabile. Non solo per la bellezza naturalistica del luogo, ma anche per la splendida camera in cui abbiamo pernottato e la gentilezza delle persone che ci hanno accolto. Aperta la finestra della camera, la vista del lago d'Orta si apre immensa davanti agli occhi, poiché l'edificio è posizionato a pochi metri dal lago; il panorama è semplicemente strabiliante. Le persone che ci hanno accolto sono state molto gentili, disponibili e simpatiche. La colazione che ci è stata servita, sempre davanti al lago, è stata molto copiosa e con tutti prodotti freschi. Soggiorno perfetto, consiglio senza esitazione a tutti.

Ho scelto questo posto per trascorrere il nostro consueto weekend con mio marito e siamo stati benissimo. Posto incantevole dalla vista splendida. Le foto sul sito danno l'idea ma la realtà è ancora più spettacolare. Ciò che ricordo con piacere è il valore aggiunto di una vastissima e curatissima biblioteca a disposizione, nonché un'intrinseca eleganza vissuta ma nel contempo discreta. Ci tornerei anche subito.

Soggiorno piacevolissimo, grazie alla splendida posizione di cui gode il giardino sul lago ed alla gentilezza e disponibilità' dei proprietari. La signora Antonella ci ha dato ottimi consigli. Camera ampia fresca luminosa pulita impreziosita dalla particolarità della biblioteca e dalla vista spettacolare che si gode dal balconcino. Colazione vista lago abbondante. Se volete staccare la spina e godere di tranquillità' e silenzio il giardino sul lago è il posto ideale. Lo consigliamo.

Io e mia moglie siamo stati benissimo! Il B&B è molto carino, pieno di fascino, tranquillo e molto pulito. La posizione sul lago d'Orta è spettacolare e molto vicina al centro d'Orta. La ciliegina sulla torta è stata Antonella - deliziosa padrona di casa che c'ha fatto sentire come a casa nostra, aiutandoci a goderci al meglio la zona. Consiglio questo B&B vivamente a tutti coloro che cercano un'oasi di pace su uno dei laghi più belli d'Italia!

Beh che dire.. è difficile trovare posti con vista così particolare, con camera così particolare, con tranquillità e pace a praticamente qualunque ora. Lo consiglio a chiunque abbia voglia di staccare un po' dalle abitudini quotidiane, dal casino della città, dalla vita frenetica che svolgiamo. Bastano anche solo due giorni per se stessi per ripartire, per rilassarsi per ritrovarsi. Noi siamo stati bene, è quello che cercavamo. i posti belli rimangono sempre nel cuore. Se avete l'occasione, spulciate fra i 60 mila. 60.000, sessantamila libri di Cesare e Antonella; "perdeteci" qualche minuto, qualche mezzora a fare due chiacchiere. Straconsigliato. Grazie grazie e ancora grazie.

"Il giardino sul lago" un meraviglioso sogno che vorresti rifare all'infinito! Devo dire che ci tornerò appena possibile? Che siamo stati accolti da 2 persone speciali? Che ho mangiato a colazione benissimo? E che le parole non bastano a descrivere sensazioni che vanno vissute? Io lo consiglio davvero! Un vero toccasana per l'anima e il corpo. A presto!

È un posto magnifico e molto speciale. Un terrazzino con vista fantastica e degli osti rari e gentili, per un bellissimo viaggio tra natura e cultura.

Struttura bellissima, proprio in riva al lago, con vista sulla suggestiva isola di San Giulio. La camera è pulita e ben curata, arredata in modo ricercato e molto caratteristico. Proprietari gentili e disponibili. Assolutamente consigliato per un weekend di relax ed evasione!
