I stayed three nights in October 2025 with friends at Affittacamere Via Moncolano Mare (Trieste, Barcola neighborhood) during the Barcolana event and the experience was truly memorable. The apartment is newly renovated, cared for in every detail and above all very comfortable: very comfortable beds (rest guaranteed even after busy days), spotless, complete and functional bathrooms, a very well-equipped and genuinely usable kitchen (not the usual “for show” kitchen), a new washing machine in the bathroom, air conditioning and parking available (a huge plus in Trieste, especially during events). But the real “wow” factor is the sea view: the apartment is on a high floor in a small building on a hill, which gives balconies with a beautiful view and a dining room with a sea panorama that alone is worth the stay. During the Barcolana it was simply incredible: from the balcony you can appreciate the regatta from a privileged perspective, which is why I fully understand why this accommodation is so sought after on those days. Even though there is no official breakfast, in the kitchen we found coffee pods and everything needed for a good homemade breakfast: a convenience that gets the day off to the right start. Special mention for the host Raffaella: thoughtful, helpful and genuinely in love with her neighborhood and her city. She filled us with valuable tips (food and wine, cultural and natural) not only about Trieste and its surroundings, but also on what to see across the border between Italy and Slovenia. Those tips really raised the level of the trip. The location in Barcola is strategic for me: you are not “trapped” in the center’s traffic (Trieste’s center can be noisy to the point of annoyance during nightlife and even more so during major events), yet the center of Trieste is easily reachable by public transport or car. At the same time, as soon as you step outside you are already close to the sea: in a few minutes you can take beautiful walks along the seafront and, if you want, you can even walk to Miramare Castle. One aspect to improve (to know before booking): the lack of an elevator, which can be difficult for people with physical disabilities or mobility issues. In summary: highly recommended place for those who appreciate a human contact with the host and are looking for sea view, comfort, cleanliness, parking and a perfect base to explore Trieste (and to experience the Barcolana from a truly unique viewpoint). I would come back even tomorrow.
