We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful and unique home. So many things to see and admire both inside and out. We loved all the antiques and arrangements throughout the house and we were very comfortable in our room and in the common areas. The grounds are beautiful too, and we recommend B&B Podere Merlo highly!

This place was spectacular and exceeded our expectations. Francesco is a wonderful host. The room was charming and very spacious. The whole house and property are decorated to perfection and you feel like you are back in time. We did not have a tour for cheese tasting pre-scheduled as we did not want to get up early AGAIN, but Francesco found us the perfect tour starting late morning and it could not have been better. He even joined us on the tour. We can’t say enough about this restored rustic estate and it’s host.

The building is restored with style and everything is done with good taste, including details in interior and decoration. The large garden is beautiful and it has a stronghold of 'Merlos' (Blackbirds). Also a Rose-ringed Parakeet (an introduced species, but well established in many places in Italy) was present. We found the location very convenient as well for day trips to the City and also to the Castles nearby. Francesco and Angelica were very friendly and helpful. Nothing to complain!

Very good, charming and clean B&B with an outstandingly nice lady of the house. San Secondo Parmese has a surprisingly nice center with an ancient castle to visit. It is a 30-minute drive from the A1 highway to the B&B.

Very nice estate, with an old house very well renovated. Comfortable room, very good bed, very friendly welcome from our host and his wife. Excellent breakfast with fresh products and very good homemade pastries. This estate is located in a commercial area and is next to a prison, but one should not hesitate to stay there, because once you pass through the park gate, you are in the countryside, it is really beautiful, and you are absolutely not disturbed. The center of Parma (with a very well placed parking) is less than 10 minutes by car.

We really appreciated the welcome of the owners (speaking French), the room, large, comfortable and decorated as if we were sharing the family's memories, and the old farm, very well restored, on the outskirts of the city of Parma. We would have stayed longer if it had been possible.

The gîte is nice, the rooms are spacious and the property is well maintained by its owner. A nice welcoming place to relax where we had a very good time. The only downside is the somewhat laborious connection of public transport with the city center of Parma.

Nice renovated old-style house, with a big garden with tree under which ones we can rest. The house is close to the center of the town (about 5 minutes by car). The bedroom was clean and the house decorated with old pictures, paintings and poster. I recommend this place.

Very nice house with nice owners. Super clean and really beautiful and tastefully furnished. The location is on the outskirts of Parma, you definitely need a car. We stayed there for three nights and felt comfortable.

A cozy B&B on the outskirts of Parma. On the lovingly restored estate with its beautiful and well-kept garden, you don't feel much of the proximity to the city. The spacious room is stylishly and comfortably furnished with antique furniture. For breakfast, there is homemade yogurt, jams, and cookies, among other things.

I stayed for a short time but I can confirm that I really liked this Bed and Breakfast Podere Merlo. The view of the garden is very relaxing. I really appreciated the shower mat change and soap refill, even though we stayed for only two nights. Everything was very clean. I rated 7 for the location only because not being self-driving, I had to rely on buses and it's not an area with a high frequency of buses. (Still doable, I come from Venice and I moved around only by train and bus) I will definitely come back ❤.

A wonderful farmhouse, immersed in nature, but accessible from main roads. The large room is truly beautiful, I felt comfortable as at home, I needed tranquility, wifi, and fresh air to study, and that's what I got. 10 out of 10 for the mattress and pillow, very comfortable.

The B&B Podere Merlo, besides being a beautiful structure where you can find everything you can expect from a more or less long stay in a quality Bed & Breakfast, is also a place that moves you when you realize you are in a happy island that has managed to resist wild urbanization by maintaining as much as possible its original vocation as a farmhouse. All this can only be discovered by coming here and reading the very well-documented booklet I found in the room that tells the ancient and recent history of this truly special place. Congratulations to Francesco and Angelica for their hard work and thank you for the beautiful welcome.

The excellent reviews brought me to B&B Podere Merlo and Francesco and Angelica deserve them all, in fact, cordiality and happy island are their strength. The Podere is rich in fruit trees, and in spring it is a carpet of flowers. The room is spacious and tastefully furnished - fantastic historical photos, they took me back in time! - cleanliness reigns supreme. Breakfast steals your line, first because everything is cooked by Angelica, from all kinds of cookies to yogurt, passing through coffee, but last but not least the jams that I tasted all with pleasure, don't miss the orange one, it's superb! The location is optimal for those, like us, arriving by car, just steps from the ring road and five minutes from the center. Many tips from where to park to go downtown to where to taste Parmesan cuisine. I highly recommend it to everyone. A dream Podere and a scream jam.

Magic happens and for me even those that last a moment matter, like when a business trip turns, for a moment, into a little vacation. At B&B Podere Merlo it happened. An enchanting place, well-kept (in detail) by two kind hosts who welcome you warmly and make you feel truly welcome. Special mention to Angelica's breakfast, I wish she would open a pastry shop near my house. Lastly, I wanted to cancel the first appointments of the day. Instead, I had a better idea and said goodbye to Angelica and Francesco with a see you on the next real vacation.

It seems like going back to the ancient way of living of the farmers who used to inhabit these farmhouses in the past, the presence of the owner is very discreet giving a sense of complete autonomy to the guests.

Quiet, well-heated rooms, shower with hot and abundant flow (stayed in the Antica Soffitta), ultra comfortable bed, fragrant bed and bath linen, view of the peaceful expanse of the estate and fresh self-service breakfast. Reception is present but not intrusive. The house breathes history and tradition, our roots, and for this I thank Francesco for the work of conservative restoration of this piece of history that belongs to us and for his tenacity in maintaining environmental integrity. We will definitely return in the beautiful season when the estate will show its best. Good wind Francesco.

Excellent accommodation just a few minutes from the center of Parma. Typical farmhouse of the Po Valley maintained and revitalized by 2 people very attentive to details and environmental issues. Lovely spacious garden full of plants, the attic where we stayed is very romantic, full of memories and objects from the past.

I stayed at B&B Podere Merlo during a short weekend on the occasion of the Parma Ham Festival. The ancient farmhouse has been impeccably renovated, just outside the city center and immersed in the countryside, easily reachable. If we want to find a flaw, the view on one side of the prisons, which however does not diminish the feeling of being in the middle of nature. I was lucky enough to book the ancient attic: a huge room finely furnished, with a very spacious bathroom and meticulously cared for in every detail. As for breakfast, it is truly remarkable, served in a picturesque room, where you can find a selection of products for every need. A special mention goes to the extremely kind and professional owners who make the choice of this location more than recommended.

Beautiful. Not the usual B&B made up of narrow rooms in apartments in the narrow city streets where you can't even park. Here we found spacious and bright rooms in historic environments full of emotions and history immersed in a large and quiet park. Gourmet breakfast, parking for the car in the private courtyard, and a WIFI that works great. Correct price. We will come back.

Podere Merlo is a wonderful place where we spent a very relaxing weekend. It is a corner of countryside in the city (just a few minutes from the historic center of Parma) where peace and silence blend with the ancient flavor of this farmhouse's history. The rooms are spacious and clean. The homemade breakfast with cakes, pastries, jams, yogurt, and fresh fruit is truly praiseworthy. And the owners are courteous and helpful. Surrounded by greenery just a few kilometers from Parma, Francesco and Angelica make you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive. There are no parking issues (something I found in other B&Bs) and the key is a code, so you are always free. Abundant breakfast.

Francesco and his wife are very kind and a beautiful couple. The rooms were exactly lovely as shown in the pictures. We could find warm hospitality everywhere. The rooms were finely decorated with tasteful furniture, and breakfast was incredibly delicious. We would even say that breakfast we had here was the best meal we had during this trip in Italy.\n\nAs we wanted more days in Parma, we want to come back to Parma soon again, and this is the place to stay with no doubt.

I had been wanting to come to this B&B for a while, and this time I managed to do it. The place is charming, carefully furnished. The host's availability is spectacular. Three minor flaws: 1) It is not well signposted outside on the main road. They should make a more visible sign, perhaps with a light illuminating it. 2) A small refrigerator, like an office one, in the room. You don't have the possibility of having cold water, and in these very hot days, cold water is vital. 3) A TV in the room. For those like me who don't sleep at night, the TV is company.

I stayed two days at this B&B for work and I didn't want to be a slave to the restricted traffic zone of the center of Parma, since I have a car. So I found this compromise a few kilometers from the center. The place is timeless, surrounded by greenery. The ancient farmhouse has been renovated with great taste. The room where I stayed (the one with the terracotta stove) is very spacious and the wireless network works very well. The cleanliness of the premises is high. The breakfast is also excellent, served in the beautiful attic of the farmhouse. The owner is a very welcoming person and attentive to the needs of the guests. I would absolutely recommend it.
