Pathirion B&B

The B&B Pathirion, located in a serene, rural location. The lower section of the property below the house offers a panoramic view of the countryside and the Ionian Sea. Our room was a pretty guest house adjacent to the main house where the hosts, Rossana and Antonio, live, with 2 cats and a fluffy, short-legged dog. Our 'casita' was very comfortable, furnished with lovely eclectic pieces, and informative pamphlets, maps, and books about the surrounding Ionian Sea terrain - Jonicosilane. The advantage of this location is that it sits between the town of Corigliano Calabro, topped by a fabulous Ducal Castle, and the town to the south, Rossano, housed inside the Diocesan museum is the Codex Purpureus (purple codex) brought by monks fleeing Palestine - books of Matthew and part of Mark written in silver ink on purple paper and the Madonna Archtropita, a venerated 9th-century Byzantine fresco painted by angels - according to the Greek inscription, located in the main cathedral. Not to mention the namesake of our B&B Pathirion - that sits high above in a vast pine forest - the abbey of Santa Maria del Patire, established in 1095. Built during the Norman period, the church has three apses, which make a unique and very photogenic architectural statement as you approach the grounds of the abbey. Later that day we discovered that the two nearby restaurants were closed, so Antonio led us to the trattoria/pizzeria - Appocolisse - in Rossano that evening. The antipasto was very good, a meal in itself! We noticed that the two guys next to us adjusted their order after trying to finish their antipasto. We also thought it best to cancel one of our pasta dishes that would follow, and then could not do justice even to that. Breakfast the next morning was served in our host's kitchen. We were treated to Rossana's homemade marmalade from Antonio's family's citrus grove. Since it was January, there was an abundance of mandarins, absolutely delicious! We felt very lucky to have found such a fantastic B&B.

Excellent breakfast, the cakes made by Rossana are delicious. The cleanliness of the rooms is perfect, it does not feel like being in the countryside. Rossana is very kind and helpful, perfect welcome. A relaxing vacation to repeat.

Excellent welcome, great courtesy and availability of Mrs. Rossana; splendid breakfast in the garden, in the shade of an oak tree and with a view of the surrounding countryside!

We stayed with my wife and son, we had a great time, Mrs. Rossana was very kind and always available to our requests, the cleanliness was perfect, and what about the breakfast, excellent! Relaxing structure and place! I would recommend it!

Well-managed structure, which guarantees comfort, privacy, and absolute rest. Mrs. Rossana and her husband are kind and friendly, ready to guide and advise travelers. You can see that this work is done with passion. The hilltop location, always close to the sea, ensures silence and privacy. The rooms are located in two separate buildings, detached from the owners' house, in the garden, so you can enter and exit independently. I highly recommend the structure to those who want to spend a few days in the Rossano area.

Very nice B&B in a quiet area and a few minutes drive from the sea. Abundant breakfasts, with excellent homemade cakes and jams, served in the garden under the shade of a beautiful oak tree. Mrs. Rossana very kind and helpful recommended many places to visit to make our holiday even more beautiful, highly recommended.

Environment, cleanliness, and courtesy beyond normal expectations. The breakfast prepared by the lady of the house is excellent and abundant. The rooms are cozy, tidy, and equipped with everything needed. The owners are truly good people. 10 and praise.

Great for spending moments in complete relaxation, under that stunning oak tree then. Too bad I stayed for a very short time. Highly recommended.
