A cross of reeds and strips of canes that grow on the shores of the Mar Piccolo. The patient hands of a skilled craftsman in weaving them. And La Nassa is born, which the fishermen here in Taranto still use, in its traditional form, to catch what the sea gives them as a gift.\n\nThe tool, a symbol of an ancient world of fishermen, sweat, sun, and salt, is also today the symbol of a redemption that the better Taranto wants and deserves. It is condensed in the effort of Marco and Magda, two young Tarantines who have renovated an old fisherman's house and given life to the Bed and Breakfast that could only be called “La Nassa”.\n\n“La Nassa”, which in truth is called, in dialect “'A' Nassa”, is a structure that Magda, 38 years old, an environmental engineer, has thought and designed in the name of eco-sustainability. It has triple glazed windows, LED lighting, insulated walls, heat pumps with zero CO2 emissions. Magda and Marco have used and recovered materials such as wood for the floors and copper for some furnishings, in the name of the balance of relationships between environment, health, and architecture.\n\nAt “La Nassa” you spend a truly pleasant stay in modern, elegant, and essential environments. Four rooms, named after the neighborhoods that intersect here, in via Di Mezzo 110. Here is the “San Pietro” room, the “Ponte” room, the “Baglio” room, and the “Turripenne” room, overlooking the promenade and the Ionian Sea.\n\nThe structure has a kitchen, which is actually Marco and Magda's kitchen and can be used with a small extra charge compared to the daily rate. A splendid terrace overlooking the sea, available to visitors. Near La Nassa, taverns and trattorias, restaurants: affordable prices, from 10 to 25 euros for a complete meal, of tradition and quality.\n\nThe main attractions of the capital of Magna Graecia are within walking distance. In front of the entrance door opens the glimpse of the historic center. And then the Marta, the archaeological museum, the Aragonese Castle, the thousand churches and chapels. All behind the house, to discover Taranto with the eyes of a tourist who wants to smell the scent of a city with intact charm.
